BlindsHow far does a double roller blind stick out, and will light leak at the sides?
A double roller blind protrudes roughly 90mm from the wall. Recess-fitted, expect about a 15mm gap each side between the fabric edge and the architrave, so some light can enter at the edges.
A double roller carries two blinds on one bracket set, which is why it sits further off the wall than a single.
How the two blinds sit
- The sunscreen sits at the rear on a backwards roll.
- The blockout sits at the front on a forwards roll.
- The roughly 15mm side gap is normal for a recess fit and is where light can seep in.
Note: Because a fitted blind leaves small edge gaps, even a blockout fabric won't give you a fully dark room. For maximum darkness, face-fit wider than the recess or pair the blind with blockout curtains.
