Measurement & Installation

How long will it take for my order to arrive?

We aim to dispatch curtain orders within 15 working days. Our express blind orders are within 5 working days while standard blind orders within 10 working days. Shutters are dispatched generally within eight weeks.

What is your returns policy?

As all our products are custom made-to-measure, we do not accept returns. However, in the rare event something with your order doesn't meet your expectations, we will always work with you to make it right. Please visit our 'Terms & Conditions' page to review our returns and warranty information in full.

Do you ship curtains and blinds separately?

Yes, we do. Our curtains and blinds are often manufactured at different factories with their own completion schedules and as we always ship our products as soon as they are ready, you’ll likely receive two separate order deliveries, even if you ordered your curtains and blinds together. You will also receive dedicated tracking information for each consignment. If you only receive one part of your order, don’t worry, the other will be close behind. As always, feel free to contact us if you’d like an update on your order delivery status.

What do you charge for delivery?

For orders of over $199 value, we offer free delivery to most Australian metro locations. This excludes shutter orders, which cannot be shipped for free due to the parcel sizes and weights involved. Delivery costs for shutter orders are calculated at checkout before payment is required. For orders of less than $199 value or for orders being shipped to outer metro and regional areas (outside of the Northern Territory and Tasmania), we charge a modest $50 flat fee. Orders dispatched to the Northern Territory and Tasmania carry a standard fee of $150. We want to be as transparent as possible with our shipping costs, so please review our ‘Delivery & Returns’ page before ordering.

What payment options do you offer?

We accept Visa and Mastercard as credit card payment but not American Express. PayPal, Afterpay and Zip Pay are all available as well. A direct bank transfer payment can be arranged if no other payment options are possible. Please contact us if you'd like to discuss your payment options.

Can I track my order progress and delivery?

Yes, absolutely. Once your order has moved into production, we will notify you. Then, when your order has been dispatched, we will send you a further email notification with the shipping and tracking information included. If you are looking for an update on the status of an order that has not been shipped, feel free to get in touch and we can provide an on-the-spot update by phone or email.

Can I get fabric samples before ordering?

Yes, of course! We offer 10 samples for just $5 including free Australia-wide express postage. Your samples also come with a discount code for $10 off your next purchase. Ordering is simple, just head to the Samples page and select individual fabric samples by type, colour or fabric - or save some time and choose from our favourites pack collections.

What is the difference between blockout and blackout curtains?

Blockout curtains and blackout curtains are terms often used interchangeably to describe curtains designed to significantly reduce light entering a room. The primary difference lies in the terminology preference, with 'blockout' being more commonly used here in Australia. Both types of curtains are crafted to offer superior room darkening features, making them ideal for bedrooms, media rooms, or any space where controlling light is essential. They also provide additional benefits such as enhancing privacy and improving energy efficiency by further insulating the room against heat and cold. Ultimately, whether referred to as blockout or blackout curtains, these window treatments are engineered to deliver comfort and convenience by creating a more controlled and comfortable indoor environment!

How do I clean my sheer curtains?

A care instruction label is sewn into the heading of all our sheer curtains (usually on the last pleat at one end of the curtain). These instructions will guide you on what specific cleaning method is recommended for the type of fabric used in your curtain. If you are ever in doubt, please contact us for further advice.

What curtain heading styles are available?

We offer everything from traditional pencil pleat to triple pleat and on-trend S-fold (wave) pleats for the majority of our curtains. To find out which heading styles your preferred curtain fabric can be supplied in, head to any of the curtain product pages and they will be listed in the specifications and 'Customise & Order' area.

Where are your sheer curtains made?

Our sheers are made right here in our Western Australian factory. The factory has been operational for over 45-years and is run by some of the most experienced (and talented!) curtain makers in Australia.

How do I clean my blockout curtains?

A care instruction label is sewn into the heading of all our Blockout curtains (usually on the last pleat at one end of the curtain). These instructions will guide you on what specific cleaning method is recommended for the type of fabric used in your curtain. If you are ever in doubt, please contact us for further advice.

What is 'coated' curtain fabric?

Coated curtain fabrics have an extra layer of blockout material "fused" to the back of the curtain fabric providing a comprehensive blockout solution. These fabrics are especially suited for bedroom windows to provide complete night time light blockout.

What is 'uncoated' curtain fabric?

Uncoated fabric means the fabric is a single layer of woven material and will not fully block out light. However, if an uncoated fabric is preferred for your home, we also offer a free blockout lining upgrade for a selection of our uncoated curtain fabrics.

How dark will my room be if I install blockout curtains?

The room will normally be very dark and suitable for a peaceful night's sleep. Blockout curtains are designed to block out sunlight and keep flooring, furniture and valuables safe from sun damage - while also providing complete privacy. At night-time they are highly effective at minimising any external light. However, even with a blockout fabric curtain, a little external light can find its way in around the sides, centre or top of the curtain.

There's something I want but can't find it on your site!

All our curtains are made locally, so there's not too much we can't attempt. Get in touch by phone or email and we'll see if we can work any magic to provide a solution!

Can I pair a sheer curtain with a blockout curtain?

Yes, most definitely! We have a selection of recommended double curtains in our dedicated Double Curtains area. All the relevant options for suitable tracking, brackets and more will be presented when you progress through the ‘Customise & Order’ stage of your purchase. Or get in touch for expert advice on choosing and installing your preferred combination for double curtains.

What tools do I need to install curtains?

You'll need a measuring tape, pencil, screwdriver and cordless power drill - a spirit level is also helpful. We'll supply the brackets and multi-purpose screws. For fixing into wall material like masonry or metal, additional screws will need to be obtained before installation commences as the ones provided are not suitable. When installing curtains, it's helpful to have an extra person available to help you lift and attach the curtain to your tracking, especially for heavier blockout curtains.

Can I hang your curtains on my existing track?

Yes, it is possible. However, we strongly recommend ordering a new track with your curtains to ensure they'll work together perfectly. If you'd really like to keep your existing track, get in touch and we'll see if we can tailor your curtain order to work with it.

Where are your curtains made?

All our curtains are manufactured locally in our Western Australian factory. Our family have been making them here since 1974. The factory is operated by some of the most experienced and talented curtain makers in Australia.

Can I install a curved track to the inside and outside of a corner?

Our curved tracks are designed to go within a 90 degree internal corner. We stick to the internal curve as there would not be adequate light reduction within a room if the curve were to be used on the outside of a corner, nor would the runners glide through the track as they should.

Do I need to install the child safety device?

Yes, installing the supplied child safety device is required to secure the loose chain for all chain operated blinds. Instructions for child safety device installation are provided with your product (please check inside the box) or can be found in the relevant section of our website.

What instructions do you provide with motorised roller blinds?

Along with our standard roller blind assembly and installation instructions, every motorised roller blind comes with additional instructions explaining how to set up and use the blind and associated items. Of course, if you run into any difficulties, we're always happy to help!

What warranty do you offer on motorised blinds?

We provide a two-year warranty on all blinds. For motorised blinds, we also offer a further three year warranty on the motor component (only).

How loud are your motorised rollers?

The noise generated by the motor is not intrusive, however, it will vary based on blind size and the settings used. Quiet operation mode is available when the blind control is on the lowest speed setting (which is typically the case for smaller to mid-sized blinds).

Who supplies your motorised roller blind parts?

We currently supply motorised roller blinds using parts from two partners, Rollease Acmeda and Eve Motionblinds. Rollease Acmeda supply our remote control motorisation parts and Eve Motionblinds supply our smart home motorisation parts. Each have their own benefits based on the users needs. Both suppliers have a well-established reputation for durability, ease of use and cost-efficiency, meaning our motorised roller blinds customers get a great outcome whichever option they choose.

Can I order motorised roller blinds?

Yes, in some cases you can. If you're looking at our roller blind products, any of the ranges called "Express" can be motorised. We will be adding more styles to this Express range in the coming months.

How do I clean my blockout roller blinds?

If you spill something on or mark your roller blinds, you will need to spot clean the area concerned as soon as possible. Use a clean cloth, warm water and mild detergent on the affected area. Please dab the area rather than rubbing. Avoid using harsh scouring pads and chemicals on the fabric and always leave the damp blind to air-dry. We also recommend a regular light dusting to avoid dust and dirt build-up.

What are the key benefits of blockout roller blinds?

Blockout roller blinds significantly reduce the amount of light entering a room making them a cost effective solution for room darkening, temperature control and privacy. The simple chain control mechanism is also super easy to install and operate, providing a quick acting solution. When supplied as part of a double roller blind, the blockout is fitted to the front with the light-filtering blind to the rear, providing a flexible solution, day or night.

I want a roller blind but have an irregular shaped window!

Feel free to email through a photo of the windows you need assistance with so we can take a closer look. It helps us to see the space in question so we can provide the best possible advice and ideally, solution.

Are roller blinds easy to install?

Yes, very. You just need to screw (or drill) a couple of mounting brackets to the window frame or surrounding wall, clip in the blind, secure the chain and you're done! We recommend heading to our Measure & Install page to watch our 'How to install roller blinds' video to see just how simple it is.

What rooms are roller blinds most suitable for?

Roller blinds are suitable for many rooms or areas around the home (or office). Their ease of installation, use and care, plus their durability and capability to control light and temperature make them a great all-rounder!

How long does the rechargeable battery last in motorised roller blinds?

The included lithium-ion battery recharge frequency will vary based on blind size and frequency of use. However, generally speaking, we would expect at least 3 and up to 6 months between charges for an average sized blind (i.e., 1.5m x 1.5m).

How do I cover a wide window or sliding doors with blinds?

To achieve this you will need to measure the total width and divide it by the number of blinds required to cover it. For example, our roller blind width's max out between 2700 - 2900mm, so if you have a wide window of 6300mm, you will need to order 3 roller blinds at a width of 2100mm each (don't worry about deducting anything from each width, we'll do that for you). If you intend to have blinds fitted side-by-side, there are two operation options to choose from, dependent or independent. Dependent operation requires all blinds move in unison when operated by a single chain. Independent operation means each blind can be operated by its own chain (handy if you have an opening at one end of the window) - although the gaps between each blind will be larger to allow room for the chain control mechanisms. When ordering each blind for a side-by-side configuration, please mention in your order notes how you would like your operation to be set up, either dependently or independently. Once we have your order, we'll get in touch to confirm before proceeding.

Are Roman blinds good for blackout?

Our blockout Roman blinds are an excellent choice for achieving a blackout effect in your room. When fully extended, the blockout fabric provides unbroken cover of the glass that darkens the room interior with only a minimal amount of light able to creep in around the fabric edges. Blockout Roman blinds are great for bedrooms, nurseries, home cinemas, or any space where controlling light is important to you.

What customisation options are available for Roman blinds?

Our Roman blinds come in a wide range of colours and the choice of blockout, light filtering or sunscreen fabrics. We also offer a chain or cord control options. An extra piece of fabric covers the headrail on our cord control Roman blinds.

Why can't I recess fit Roman blinds?

Through experience, we have found that fitting Roman blinds in a recess is often problematic. We want all our customers to be happy with their purchases, so we provide the best options to help maximise a product’s value and longevity.

How do I care for my Roman blinds?

If you spill something on or mark your Roman blinds, you will need to quickly spot clean the area concerned. Use a clean cloth and mild detergent in warm water to clean the affected area. It is best to dab the area rather than rubbing. Please avoid using harsh scouring pads and chemicals on the fabric.

How do I operate my cordless Venetian blinds?

Cordless Venetian blinds are lowered by pulling downwards while holding the bottom rail and closed by pushing upwards while holding the bottom rail. In either case, place both hands on the rail at an even distance apart and only apply reasonable force to operate. To ensure longevity of use and not invalidate the provided warranty, always tilt the blind slats to the horizontal position before raising or lowering the blind. Also, please be aware that the blind tilt mechanism is only functional when the blind is fully down.

What are your Springwood Venetian blinds made from?

These blinds are made of a durable, water and scratch resistant PVC composite material – particularly well suited to wetter areas, like bathrooms or kitchens.

How do I care for my Venetian blinds?

We recommend lightly cleaning your Venetian blinds regularly - ideally at least monthly. Rotate the slats of the blind into their closed position and gently wipe them down with a microfibre cloth on either side. Vacuuming on a low setting with a soft brush-head will also do the trick!

Which rooms are Venetian blinds most suitable for?

Venetian blinds are one of the most versatile window furnishings available. Springwood Venetians are excellent for common areas and wet or damp areas around the home as they are moisture resistant and provide effective privacy. Aluminium Venetians, whilst not entirely waterproof, are still great for laundries and other common areas. We'd recommend steering clear of Venetians for bedrooms though as there are better options for light management, such as Roller and Cellular Blinds, or blockout curtains.

What customisation options are available for vertical blinds?

Our blockade fabric vertical blinds are highly customisable and flexible. You can pick from three bottom weight options, including the popular sewn-in weights; wand or chain control and 89mm or 127mm slat widths. These options made verticals perfect for narrower or wider window spaces in either damp or dry areas.

How do I clean my vertical blinds?

It is best to give vertical blinds a regular light clean to help prevent dust or grime building up on the slats. We recommend gently wiping each slat down with a microfibre cloth or for tougher dirt, use lukewarm water and a mild detergent solution on a clean cloth.

Are vertical blinds child safe?

Yes. Our entire range of products are manufactured to adhere to Australian safety guidelines. Information on safe installation and operation will be included with your blinds when delivered.

Are shutters suitable for wet areas?

In short, yes. However, while our Eco PVC Shutters perform well in damper areas and are moisture resistant, they are not completely waterproof and continued direct exposure to water (from a running shower) will eventually impact performance. If you're undecided about a shutter for your wet area, feel free to call us to discuss further.

Do your shutter prices include delivery?

Due to the increased size and weight of our shutters, we always apply a charge for shipping. We want to be as transparent with our shipping costs as possible, so please review our 'Delivery & Returns' page before ordering.

What tools will I need to install my shutters?

You'll need a measuring tape, pencil, screwdriver and a drill. A spirit level is also recommended. Screws specific to your fixing area (i.e., timber, masonry or metal) may need to be obtained before installation commences. When assembling your Shutter, it is recommended to place a large piece of soft material on the floor for added protection. An extra person may also be required to help with lifting and positioning of the shutter while installing.

How do I know what type of shutter will work for my window?

Aesthetics will always be a driving force behind customer preference. We’d recommend taking a look at our shutter ‘Customise & Order’ page in order to view the frame options. If you are still unsure about which type would be best for you, please send us some photos of your window. We’d be happy to supply any kinds of recommendations we can.

Do you provide a measuring and installation service?

We're able to keep the price of our curtains and blinds so low because our customers do their own measuring and installation! However, our website offers a wealth of detailed information on how to measure and install, and we're very happy to talk you through the entire process by phone or email.
