What does a light-filtering roller blind do?

Light-filtering blinds allow natural light into the room while softening and diffusing it, eliminating harsh glare without plunging the space into darkness. They also obscure visibility in both directions: you can't clearly see in from outside, and the view out is softened rather than preserved. This makes them ideal for busy daytime spaces like living rooms, kitchens and home offices where you want ambient natural light with good daytime privacy.

What's the difference between light-filtering and sunscreen roller blinds?

Light-filtering fabrics diffuse light more heavily and provide greater daytime privacy, so visibility in and out is obscured. Sunscreen fabrics let more light in and preserve partial outside views, but offer slightly less privacy. If brightness and views are your priority, sunscreen is the better fit. If you want softer, more diffused light and a stronger privacy effect during the day, light-filtering is the right choice.

Do light-filtering roller blinds provide night-time privacy?

Not on their own. Once your interior lights are on after dark, the fabric becomes more translucent and movement inside can be visible from outside. For full night-time privacy, the most practical solution is pairing a light-filtering blind with a blockout in a double roller setup, or opting for a blockout blind in rooms where evening privacy is important.

What's the difference between light-filtering and blockout roller blinds?

Light-filtering fabrics are generally a closer weave that diffuses light more evenly through the fabric. You get a softer glow in the room rather than a clear view through the blind. Blockout fabrics are a different category entirely. They're designed to prevent light from passing through at all, which is why they're the standard recommendation for bedrooms and media rooms. If you're not sure which suits your window, ordering a sample of each is the quickest way to compare them side by side in your own space.

Are roller blinds easy to install?

Yes, very. You just need to screw (or drill) a couple of mounting brackets to the window frame or surrounding wall, clip in the blind, secure the chain and you're done!
