How do I clip a cordless honeycomb blind into its brackets, and remove it again?

To release a cordless honeycomb (cellular) blind, push into the mechanism at the base of the bracket to un-pop the headrail from the casing. To remove it for painting, reverse the install: un-pop the headrail and lift the blind out.

  1. 1

    Find the release

Locate the release point at the base of each recess bracket.

  2. 2

    Un-pop the headrail

Push into the release to free the headrail; tilt a wide flat-head screwdriver if it resists.

  3. 3

    Lift out

Once both brackets release, lift the headrail clear to remove the blind for painting.

  4. 4

    Refit

Reverse the steps, seating the headrail back into both brackets until it clicks.

The headrail clips into the recess brackets, so fitting and removing are the same action in reverse.

Fitting and releasing the headrail

  • Push into the release point at the base of each bracket to free or seat the headrail.
  • If it won't budge, tilt the screwdriver rather than pushing straight back.
  • A wider flat-headed screwdriver gives better purchase on the catch.

Tip: To remove the blind for painting, un-pop both brackets, lift the headrail clear, then reverse the steps to refit afterwards.
