ShuttersShould I face-fit or recess-fit shutters in my lounge?
Both work for a lounge. Face-fitted shutters mount over the opening and are the simpler install; recess-fitted shutters sit inside the reveal for a flush look, but the reveal depth has to suit the frame.
Our shutters are plantation-style PVC, so they handle living spaces, kitchens, and wet rooms without warping.
Face fit vs recess fit
- Face fit is the easier option and forgives an out-of-square opening.
- Recess fit looks neater but needs enough depth. If depth is tight, choose a narrower bottom frame or go without a bottom frame.
- To check a recess fit, measure in millimetres from the window winder to the front of the recess.
Tip: A window winder or handle that sits proud is the usual reason a recess fit won't clear, so measure to the winder, not just the glass.
