How to order Blinds for recessed corner windows

Corner windows have one extra decision that a single window doesn't: how the two blinds meet where the walls turn. Get that right before you order and the fit will be seamless.

Measure each window as standard

Measure the width and drop of each side separately, the same way you'd measure any other recessed windows for blinds. There's no special corner formula here. Just take both measurements independently and accurately in mm.

Decide how the two blinds meet within your recess

The way the blinds meet at the corner is entirely up to you - there are three ways this can work. Please note each configuration is not suitable for every style of blind.

Butting into corner: both blinds stop at the corner post, each sitting neatly against its own wall. This works with roller, venetian, cellular, and roman blinds, the widest range of options.

Left hand through: the left blind runs past the corner and the right blind butts up against it. Suited to roller and venetian blinds.

Right hand through: the right blind runs past the corner and the left blind butts up against it. Also suited to roller and venetian blinds.

Which one you pick depends on your blind type and which side of the window gets opened or drawn back most often.

When placing your order

- Order each window's blind separately. You'll need to name each one, and we'd recommend using something like "Left window" and "Right window".

- In the order notes for each blind include a comment on which configuration you'd like.

- If applicable to your blinds, check which side the chain or wand sits on for each one, so the controls don't clash where the blinds meet at the corner.

- If your recessed window space has half tiles, measure from tile to tile for the width - this gives you the shortest measurement. If you're unsure, just email our team with some photos of the space and we'll help you out.

- If you have young children at home, keep cords and chains out of reach, especially at the corner where the two blinds meet.

Still not sure which configuration suits your window? Send us an email with your measurements and photos of your space to info@curtainandblindco.com.au and we'll talk it through before you order.

Yes, our cordless honeycomb blinds are a great option for homes with children and pets, as it removes the risks associated with dangling control cords or chains.
What's the difference between light-filtering and sunscreen roller blinds?
Light-filtering fabrics diffuse light more heavily and provide greater daytime privacy — visibility in and out is obscured. Sunscreen fabrics let more light in and preserve partial outside views, but offer slightly less privacy. If brightness and views are your priority, sunscreen is the better fit. If you want softer, more diffused light and a stronger privacy effect during the day, light-filtering is the right choice.
Do motorised blinds need to be measured differently?
No — the measuring process is exactly the same as our standard roller blinds. Same width, same drop, same recess or face fit options. The motor sits neatly inside the tube, so there’s no need to adjust your measurements.
