What tape measure should I use for curtains?

A metal tape gives you a firm, accurate reading across a window, where a laser can scatter or misread on glass and soft furnishings.

Measure twice and write each figure down, since a small error on a custom curtain is costly to correct once it is cut and sewn.

Tip: Have someone hold the other end of the tape for wide windows, so it stays level across the full width.
