Can a blind be cut down to size after it's made?

No. Once a blind is custom-made to your measurements it can't be cut down and still work properly. The mechanism is built for that exact width, so trimming it breaks the operation.

Every blind is made to the width and drop you ordered, with the headrail, brackets, and roller or cell sized to match. Cutting the fabric or rail down throws the mechanism out of alignment and voids any warranty.

If a blind has come out too wide, you have two practical options.

Your options

  • Reface fit: mount the blind on the face of the wall above and outside the recess, where the extra width has somewhere to sit.
  • Remake: order a replacement at the corrected size. We can sometimes help with a measuring-error discount, so email info@curtainandblindco.com.au before you reorder.

Tip: Measure the recess in three places (top, middle, bottom) and order to the smallest for a recess fit. The known source error here was a "cut to size" suggestion, which we don't recommend.
