How do I mount curtain tracks on Masonite walls for a corner window?

Fix your track into solid framing behind the Masonite, or use anchors rated for hollow lining, then mount it above the window or to the ceiling for the look you want.

Masonite (hardboard lining) won't hold a loaded track on its own, so the bracket fixings need to reach something solid.

Getting a secure hold

  • Find the timber studs or window head behind the lining and screw your brackets into them where you can.
  • Where you can't hit framing, use wall anchors rated for hollow or thin board, not standard plugs.
  • A corner window usually means two tracks meeting at the corner. Mount each track level and let the inner ends sit close so the curtains read as one run.

Tip: Mounting to the ceiling or high above the frame makes the window feel taller and lets the curtains fall in a cleaner line.
