Measuring

How do I make sure my curtain measurements are right before I order?

Start with our curtains measuring guide, then enter your full width and drop with no deductions. Measure twice, use a steel tape, and work in millimetres to avoid the common mistakes.

Width

There is no fixed rule, the width is your choice. Two popular options: run the track 150-300mm past the window frame on each side so the curtains clear the glass when open, or run it wall to wall. Enter your total width with no deductions.

Drop

Measure from the top of the track, or from the ceiling if you are top-fixing, down to the floor. Enter it as-is. If you want the curtains to just touch the floor, choose the 'No floor deduction' option when ordering.

If you have a cornice

A cornice affects your drop, not your width. We usually suggest sitting the track just below it with at least a 10mm gap, which keeps the cornice on show. The only time a cornice touches your width is if you top-fix up over it (for example running wall to wall), where it limits the space, in that case measure between the cornices on each side.

Tip: Measure twice, use a steel tape, and work in millimetres. If anything is unclear, email info@curtainandblindco.com.au with photos of your windows and we will guide you.
