MeasuringDo I need to allow for pleats when I measure my curtains?
No. We make curtains at 200% to 250% fullness depending on the heading style, so the pleating is already built in. You measure and order to the finished width you want the curtain to cover, and we add the extra fabric for the folds.
Fullness is the ratio of fabric width to the space the curtain covers. We make curtains at 200% to 250% fullness depending on the heading style, so we use roughly two to two-and-a-half times the fabric of your ordered width. That's what gives the curtain its deep, even folds.
That means you measure the track or rail width you want covered, and nothing more. There's no need to multiply your measurement or add fabric for the pleats yourself.
Tip: Width is your call. Many people extend the curtain 150mm to 300mm past each side of the window, or run it wall to wall, so the curtain stacks off the glass when open.
