Renovating with 'Elevated' style
In 2020, we were lucky enough to have Matt from Elevate Building Group in Victoria reach out to us with an awesome pitch. Could we recommend and supply window furnishings that would further enhance his Henry Street home renovation project?
We could hardly wait to get started!
Built in 1953 (newspapers found under the floorboards proved it), Matt planned to completely renovate this stunning period family home, giving it a second life. And the choice of window furnishings were critical to achieving the final aesthetic he had in mind.
The overall stying was intended to be light, bright and crisp. So he chose to go with plenty of satin white finishes, which would perfectly accentuate the light aesthetic of the renovated home. But rather than leaving the curtains till last, Matt came to us early in the project lifecycle so we could make considered decisions alongside the developing plans, meaning that the choice of curtains would be informed by the ongoing decor decisions - but also - could help inform some of the finishing options too.
Soon after Matt provided us with the brief, we knew what would work well - our Avoca sheer. The linen-look polyester fabric of Avoca provides a winning combination of unique texture, softness and a range of colour tones that were well-suited to Matt's vision. Plus, as with any sheer, they offer ample daytime privacy while providing beautifully filtered daylight inside the home.
We also recommended including several plantation-style shutters. These were perfect for emphasising the renovated homes' crisp lines and styling. This type of shutter is great when you want complete privacy (for instance, in bedrooms or bathrooms) but also want to enjoy the afternoon breeze. This is possible thanks to the flexible blade tilt mechanism that allows the blades to remain slightly open but prevents visibility into the internal space.
Matt's newly renovated Henry Street home is a triumph, and we were delighted to contribute to the project in such a meaningful way.
