How to measure for recess fit blinds

How do you measure up for recess fit blinds?

Correct measuring is the key to easy, hassle-free installation. So, it’s worth taking the time to get it right.

Before we get into it, you’ll need a metal tape measure, a pencil and paper, and if required, a sturdy step ladder to get to high places.

All sorted? Great, so here’s what to do with them…

Recess fit is where the blind sits inside the window frame. This is typically done to reduce the overall impact of the blind’s presence in the space, especially for smaller rooms, or just because it can look neater.

To measure for recess-fitted blinds, simply measure the width of the inside of your window (in millimetres) across the top, middle and bottom, recording the smallest measurement for ordering. Using the smallest measurement ensures the blind sits comfortably inside the window frame, even if it’s slightly irregular in shape.

Please note, we make a small deduction to the width of all our recess-fitted blinds to ensure the blind fits snuggly inside your recess. So, all you need to do is provide us with the recess measurements and we’ll take care of any deductions.

Next, measure the exact internal height of the window recess. Again take three measurements – left, middle and right, and record the smallest to enter when ordering.

Once you’ve recorded your measurements, head to the relevant product page’s ‘Customise & Order’ area to enter your details and complete your order. Then, after just a few weeks, we’ll send your fabulous new custom-fit blinds to your door.

If you’re in any way unsure of how to proceed, please get in touch with our team by phone or email and we’ll be happy to provide specific advice.
