Your new blinds from start to finish

Here, we’ll explain the simple process of ordering blinds online

There’s often a limit to what many of us feel we can achieve when it comes to DIY projects, but ordering and installing new blinds is something most homeowners can do in less than an hour! Let’s go through the process.

First, determine which style of blind suits your practical needs and preferences

Roller Blinds are a tried and tested option that tend to work well in almost any space while our timber-look Venetians offer a more rustic, elegant styling.

If you’re after a more traditional look, Roman blinds have a classic, timeless appeal. Otherwise, vertical and panel glide blinds offer great value and flexibility.

A newer blind that is fast becoming a staple in many modern homes is the cellular (often called, honeycomb) blind. With exceptional thermal properties and contemporary styling, cellulars are not to be slept on!

Narrow down your preferred selections and order samples of each

Placing a sample order is as simple as selecting the colours you prefer while browsing the different blinds on our website. We also have a dedicated sample ordering page that allows you to filter key attributes to discover the best matches for your existing preferences. While you’re there, you can also check out our curated sample packs featuring a selection of the most popular fabrics from our different ranges.

We offer any 10 samples for just $5 including tracked express postage and a $10 discount code to use on your next purchase. We want to get you your samples as quickly as possible, so new orders are picked, packed and sent the very next working day after the order arrives.

With samples, we thoroughly recommend reviewing the fabric swatches at different times of the day to get a better understanding of how they’ll look as the lighting conditions change. It’s also an idea to hold your samples close to existing furnishings, walls and flooring in natural and artificial lighting to better understand their compatibility.

Determine how you’ll be fitting your blinds and take down accurate measurements

Nearly all of our blinds are available to be face or recess fitted. In the broader sense, both do a similar job but your choice normally depends on what you’re trying to achieve in terms of light and temperature control, the structure of the window to be covered and your desired aesthetic outcome.

For example, if you’re looking for a sleek fit, a recessed blind would be the best choice although you’ll need an adequate recess depth to get a flush fitting (details of which can be found in the specifications section for each of our products).

If you’re looking to achieve maximum light blockout, then it’s worth considering a face fit. This will normally do a better job of light control as it can be made as wide and tall as manufacturing will allow. However, given the blind will protrude off the wall, the aesthetic outcome is a little less subtle than recess fitting.

Once you’ve made your fitting location decision, follow our measuring guides to ensure you get the most accurate measurements to move ahead with.

Time to place that order!

With your fabric chosen and your measurements to hand, head to the relevant product page to place an online order. While there, you can customise various aspects of the final product before making the payment and submitting the order. All online orders placed with The Curtain and Blind Company are incredibly secure and payment options currently include credit card (excluding AMEX), PayPal, ZIP and Afterpay.

With your order placed, you can sit back safe in the knowledge that our expert manufacturing team will be getting to work on your blinds within a matter of days. Typically, blind orders are completed within 10-12 working days. Shipping times can vary depending on the delivery location and other external factors, but we expect most orders to be successfully delivered within a week. Once your order is in transit, an email will be sent with your tracking details, so you can keep a close eye on its progress!
